I actually wrote this haiku about a month ago, but failed to put it on here. It's actually one of my favorites that I've done. For some reason, I thought of it yesterday.
I never told the stroy behind this haiku. It is about my first kiss with my husband. It was one of the most romantic moments of my life. We were sixteen and were slow-dancing. He waited until the VERY end of the song to kiss me...and I will never forget that feeling of waiting for it. It made the kiss even sweeter. I had been in love with him for a long time at this point, so it was a long-awaited moment. :)
I have had a passion for the written word, especially poetry, from an early age. I am first and foremost a child of God-a thankful recipient of His grace. I am also a mother, a teacher, a singer, and an overall music lover. I call the beautiful southern United States home, and growing up and raising my family here has shaped who I am in many ways. I believe that life- with its various emotions, experiences, trials, and joys-is a gift from my Heavenly Father. As a poet, I hope that my work expresses this.
"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him." -Psalm 62:1
Some of my poetry has been published in the online journals Simply Haiku and Notes from the Gean.
