The question I had in the second I finished this poem was: what is today's mask like? Will it be recycled? Or thrown away? And: is mask something evil? Or does it hide and show in the same moment? Very good, Kristin.
Ralf-on the surface, the mask thing was a play on Halloween being the day before...but this poem has a deeper meaning for me as well...not something I want to share, but let's just say that there was something that I was hanging on to that I've needed to let go of for quite some time...and I've finally let it go. Now I feel like I don't have to hide from even myself about it anymore. Very liberating! :) With a new month came a new mind set for me and all is well again. Thanks for your comment!
I have had a passion for the written word, especially poetry, from an early age. I am first and foremost a child of God-a thankful recipient of His grace. I am also a mother, a teacher, a singer, and an overall music lover. I call the beautiful southern United States home, and growing up and raising my family here has shaped who I am in many ways. I believe that life- with its various emotions, experiences, trials, and joys-is a gift from my Heavenly Father. As a poet, I hope that my work expresses this.
"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him." -Psalm 62:1
Some of my poetry has been published in the online journals Simply Haiku and Notes from the Gean.
