Thanks to everyone...this one literally happened in about two seconds. I sat down and at my desk having no idea what I wanted to write about and I suddenly heard the midnight train outside. This just popped into my head at that moment. Those are always my favorite ones...the ones that happen quickly after a sudden, unexpected moment of inspiration. :)
I have had a passion for the written word, especially poetry, from an early age. I am first and foremost a child of God-a thankful recipient of His grace. I am also a mother, a teacher, a singer, and an overall music lover. I call the beautiful southern United States home, and growing up and raising my family here has shaped who I am in many ways. I believe that life- with its various emotions, experiences, trials, and joys-is a gift from my Heavenly Father. As a poet, I hope that my work expresses this.
"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him." -Psalm 62:1
Some of my poetry has been published in the online journals Simply Haiku and Notes from the Gean.

I love trains so much and their distant mournful sound, and you brought it all back with your story, I love this very much Kristin :)
ReplyDelete... and the places, where they used to be, are to be found in your notebook. And your blog. Very nice.

ReplyDeleteYou've really captured the melancholy of hearing the sound of a train in the distance. Beautiful tanka Kristin.
