first day...aroma
of newly-sharpened pencils
and fear

  1. This is my classroom. I was too tired on the first day to write...nothing left to give! So...I'm writing about the first day of school on the second. There's just something about the first day of school. A silent anxiety seems to hang in the room for a little while until they realize that their teacher is perfectly flawed and in many ways not much different from them. My cover is usually blown the very first day!!! ha!

  3. Your note Kristin....it makes me smile, a wide smile...even me, its all so much of a mask, especially with children :)

But being with children is so refreshing...

and yes, Kristin... I liked the poem, when it talks of aroma..it gets me in :)

  6. I can still smell the pencil dust, and feel the fear! Seems poetic to me!
